My work is influenced by stories conceived around the history of rocks and nature, how piles form, geological time, and the space between where things begin and where they seemingly end. Through factual research and imaginative investigation I create graphite drawings, collages, paintings, and small object based rock sculptures. Geology is a storytelling science and I believe rocks hold the Earth’s stories, both materially and spiritually. I think most people have a story about a rock, have collected one, or connected with one at some point in their lives; oftentimes without knowing why. Navigating the language of rocks, the sense of time, anthropomorphism, and our relationship to nature; my work encourages more natural conversations about rocks, rituals, routines, myth, and the things that people collect.
